Is there a way to exit an gitlab Issue comment?

I reopened issue #44 because I just saw another example.  While trying to add 
more data, I didn't quote things (or whatever I should have done) and it threw 
away all my line breaks so things are very hard to read.  Close to useless.

What should I have done to preserve line breaks?  Is there a button to test 
the formatting?
