What's the story on buildbot?

No, that is a pending feature request.

So nothing buildbot related.

It did not, nor would I expect it to.  buildbot only builds two
configurations.  One default with no refclocks.  One default with
all refclocks.  

Right now, except for known problem children (Solaris, ARM cross compile,
etc.) buildbot is all green.

Correct.

Buildbot master is already having trouble keeping up with 36 different
builds it does on every push.  Many of the workers also have a 
hard time keeping up.  No overhead left to do generic options.
