Pardon my ignorance, since I've never used that refclock, what it

Unable to replicate, not surprising as I do not have that refclock.

Can you verify the same thing happens with ntpmon?

Can you verify your ntpq version? (ntpq --version)

I suspect the problem is back in ntpd, which is sending bad mode 6.
