Your imagination needs a tune up.  The whole reason this came up was because 
an innocent edit like that broke something.

The edit is simple.  Verifying that it doesn't break anything is more work.  
I took a look at a few modules.  There were lots of "/".  Most were in 
strings, probably file names.
