As long as the function I need for a headless box are supported in a
mainline kernel and they provide a halfway decent image to start from,
these provide enough benefit over the rasPi (on paper at least) to have
me seriously consider trying one.

Maybe, but so far I don't think it's been in any way material as far as
my experiments with ntpsec goes.
