Wish list - hack to monitor a server

That's only half of what I was looking for.

The other half is "Are the servers that system is using working right?"  Or 
rather does the server I want to monitor think they are working.  The latter 
covers refclocks and the network path from server X to server Y which may be 
different from monitoring station to server Y.
