API may not be the right term, but they have to be using some interface.

Their program talks to our stuff somehow.  That's the interface I was 
referring to.  They may be using ntpq and parsing the printout which makes 
the interface at the ntpq printout level.  They may be using mode 6 packets 
(the same as ntpq uses), if so, that's the interface.

I think the mode 6 packets are documented in an RFC.  It's way out of date by 
now.
